NTPC Green Energy Limited
The central government took three important decisions on Wednesday to strengthen the country's agriculture and clean energy sector. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) was approved for farmers. Apart from this, the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has received approval of up to Rs 20,000 crore for renewable energy. At the same time, Neveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) has also been allowed to invest Rs 7,000 crore, so that the scope of green energy in the country can increase further.
Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that these initiatives will not only benefit the farmers, but will also help the country to become self -sufficient in the field of energy.
Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Agricultural Scheme
The aim of the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana presented in Budget 2025-26 is to strengthen the agricultural sector in 100 districts of the country. Under this scheme, 36 existing schemes of 11 central ministries will be implemented simultaneously. Such districts have been selected where agricultural productivity is low, crop density is low and farmers do not have easy access to loans. The special thing is that at least one district from every state will be included in this scheme.
Under the scheme, Rs 24,000 crore will be spent every year for the next six years. It is estimated that this will directly benefit about 1.7 crore farmers. The main objective of this scheme is to increase the yield of farming, diversity in crops, strengthen the storage structure after harvesting, repair irrigation facilities and provide easy loans to farmers.
The government says that this scheme will be based on the experiences received from the initiative of the aspirational districts, so that concrete results can be brought on the ground by connecting the efforts of the Center and the states together. Officials say that this scheme will prove to be a milestone in making farming more durable and beneficial.
Big investment in NTPC Green Energy
The cabinet has allowed NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of government company NTPC, to invest up to Rs 20,000 crore. This investment will be useful in promoting projects like solar, wind and green hydrogen. So far, NTPC has invested Rs 7,500 crore in its Green Energy Branch. Currently, this portfolio has an operational capacity of 6 GW, while 26 GW of projects are being prepared. The government aims to increase this capacity to 60 GW by 2032.
The government believes that this will strengthen the energy structure across the country, create new employment opportunities and will further strengthen its place in India's green energy sector world.
7,000 crores for NLCIL
The third important decision is about Neveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL). The government has approved it to impose Rs 7,000 crore in its full -fledged subsidiary NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL). Under this, renewable energy projects worth Rs 6,263 crore of NLC will be transferred to NIRL. Apart from this, an additional amount of Rs 700 crore will also be imposed in the current projects.
Currently NIRL has seven projects of 1,400 MW capacity. After the approval of the cabinet, NIRL will now work as a separate and dedicated green energy branch of NLC. The company aims to prepare 10 GW by 2030 and 32 GW renewable energy capacity by 2047.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that India has already crossed the 50% mark in its total established green energy capacity. He said that the country has already achieved this milestone before the target of 2030, which is clear that India is moving firmly in the field of renewable energy.
These three major decisions of the government will not only strengthen farming but will also prove to be a strong step towards making India self -sufficient in the field of green energy. This will provide relief to crores of farmers and in the coming years the energy structure of the country will be more clean and durable.
