The pipeline of Pacher Ghat was swept away due to heavy rains in Chhatarpur district on Friday and Saturday, due to which the water supply of the entire city is closed. There was 82.6 mm of rain on Friday and 110.4 mm on Saturday. 6 pipes of 10-10 feet of the line laid from Dhasan river to filter plant have been washed away. Along with this, CC Road and three bridge have also been damaged.
45 thousand houses are supplied daily in the city, with 80% water from Pacher Ghat and 20% from the old dam. But due to rain, the power line of 11 thousand KV in the old dam got a fault, due to which the supply has stopped from there too.
The team of the municipality and electricity department is doing repair work, but officials say that if the weather is clear then the work will be completed in two days. Then the supply of water can be started again in the city. Due to increasing water inside the dowry dam, it is not possible to repair the line, so a new line is being laid from outside.
The water supply will be stalled until this work is completed. At present, the municipality has appealed to the citizens for cooperation and assured that the supply will be resumed as soon as the work is completed.
