News India Live, Digital Desk: Excessive Use of Mobile Phone: Mobile phones have become an integral part of our life in today’s digital world. As soon as we open our eyes in the morning, we find our phone first, and it is in our hands even while sleeping at night. Social media feeds scrolling, checking messages or watching online has become a common habit of ours, but have you ever thought what is the effect on our brain, especially when we use it before or immediately after waking up? Dr. Praveen Gupta, the famous neurologist at Manipal Hospital in Delhi, has warned about the serious consequences of this habit. According to him, it is having a very negative effect on the quality of our sleep, mental health and the functioning of the brain. Effect on Nind: When we use mobile phones just before sleeping at night, the blue light emanating from it is straight to our eyes. This blue light suppresses the production of hormones called ‘melatonin’. Melatonin is the hormone that controls the sleep-shining cycle in our body and helps us to sleep. Decreased melatonin levels, we do not sleep for a long time, our sleep is not deeper and the next day we feel tired and less energetic. If this condition persists for a long time, insomnia (insomnia) and other serious sleep disorders can lead to mental and emotional effects: As soon as the eye opens in the morning, checking email, message or social media notification on mobile phones suddenly brings the burden of information on our brain. Due to this, our brain gets engaged in the runaway of the day without being prepared. It can promote stress, anxiety and negative emotions, as you start your day with the demands and expectations of others instead of being calm and concentrated. In addition, frequent scrolling keeps the brain stimulating, not allowing it to relax, which can cause problems, irritability and memory problems in focusing. In a way, this habit keeps you busy in a virtual world throughout the day, making you feel disconnected from the present moment and people around you.
