Know how to make cheela

  • First of all, mix semolina and curd well in a large pot. Now prepare a thick and smooth solution by adding water slowly. Keep in mind, do not get kernels in the solution. Cover it for 15-20 minutes, so that the semolina swells.
  • As long as the semolina is swollen, finely chop onion, capsicum, carrots, green chillies, coriander and grated ginger (if used).
  • Add all the chopped vegetables, salt and red chili powder (if put) and mix well in the puffed semolina solution. If the solution looks more thick, you can add some more water. We need consistance like idli solution.
  • Heat a non-stick griddle. Spread a little oil or ghee on it. When the griddle is hot, take a big spoon of solution and spread it on the pan and give the shape of a round cheela.
  • Bake the cheela on a medium flame till it turns golden from one side. If the edges start to become light brown, then turn over and bake till it becomes golden from the other side. When cooked well from both sides, remove the cheela from the pan.
  • Serve hot semolina cheela with your favorite green chutney, sauce or coconut chutney.
