As Parliament enters the second week of the Monsoon Session, all eyes are on today’s crucial debate on Operation Sindoor. Ahead of it, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju drew from the epic Ramayana to frame India’s military response to Pakistan, invoking powerful imagery that resonated across political and public discourse.

Terrorist Camp Faced Fire

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) just hours before the Lok Sabha was scheduled to discuss Operation Sindoor, Rijiju, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, wrote, “When Ravan crossed the Laxman Rekha, Lanka burned. When Pakistan crossed the red lines drawn by India, terrorist camps faced the fire!”

Alongside the post, Rijiju shared a stirring video clip featuring a song sung by Kailash Kher. The track underscored themes of national pride, dignity, and self-respect—“aan, baan, swabhimaan”—and opened with a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicating Operation Sindoor to “every mother, sister and daughter of the country.”

The timing of Rijiju’s post was no coincidence. It came shortly before the scheduled debate in the Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor, India’s military retaliation following the devastating terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22. The attack claimed 26 lives, most of them tourists, sparking national outrage and setting the stage for a significant response.

Rajnath Singh To Lead The Debate

After a week of turbulence in the monsoon session—marked by frequent disruptions and the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar—Parliament is bracing for a high-stakes discussion. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to lead the charge in the Lok Sabha, laying out the government’s position on the operation.

According to sources from PTI, the debate will also feature key voices from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, including Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Anurag Thakur, and Nishikant Dubey. All eyes are also on Prime Minister Modi, who may personally intervene during the debate in both Houses.

The Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take up the Operation Sindoor discussion on Tuesday. Singh and Jaishankar are again expected to be among the main speakers, providing continuity and strategic clarity to the government’s narrative.
