Jennifer Lopez turned an unexpected wardrobe malfunction into a moment of charm and confidence during her concert in Warsaw, Poland, on July 24, which also happened to be her birthday.

A video from the event has gone viral, capturing the singer-actress taking the incident in stride. Lopez had momentarily stepped off stage for a quick outfit change while her backup dancers prepared to surprise her with a rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Just as she returned to thank them, the unexpected happened, her sparkling gold skirt slipped off in front of the cheering crowd.

Despite the suddenness of the mishap, Lopez didn’t miss a beat. She laughed, took it sportingly, and even poked fun at herself while continuing to entertain the audience. “I’m out here in my underwear,” she joked, as a dancer rushed over to help fasten the skirt. Still, when attempts to secure the outfit failed, she flung the garment into the crowd and said with a grin, “That’s gonna be everywhere.”

“I’m glad that they reinforced that costume,” she added, unfazed. “And I’m glad I had underwear on. I don’t usually wear underwear. OK!”

One lucky fan who caught the discarded skirt asked if she wanted it back. Lopez’s response? “You can have it. I don’t want it back, forever and ever.”

Following the humorous interlude, Lopez took a heartfelt pause to express gratitude to her fans and share a piece of personal wisdom. “I am so thankful to be here in beautiful Warsaw on my birthday. I gotta tell you, surrounded by my incredible dancers, my band, my crew, everybody … I am so blessed. I don’t usually give any advice to anybody because I feel like we’re all on our own specific journey. … If I had one little piece of advice for you, it would be to do what you love, find what you love, do it, and do it with people that you love, and then you will have the most amazing life. I can say that firsthand.”

She continued, “And I also want to say that I believe that the amount of happiness that you have in your heart is, is tied directly to how free you feel, and I wish you guys all the same happiness and freedom and the way you made me feel tonight. … I want you to be feel free to love, free to be who you are, free to just follow your dreams and do all the things that you want to do. I just want you to feel free.”

Fan asks Lopez to marry him

Lopez’s performance came amid renewed public interest in her personal life, especially following her split from Ben Affleck earlier this year. The two had famously rekindled their early-2000s romance and tied the knot in 2022, only to part ways again in 2024.

During another recent show, a fan shouted out a marriage proposal - prompting a lighthearted response from Lopez: “I think I’m done with that. Yeah, I tried that a few times.”

Before Affleck, Lopez was married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony — none of the unions stood the test of time.
