The Government of India has been pushing carmakers to offer betterquality and safer cars across the entire range that even includes affordable entrylevel models. The Ministry of Road & Transport has mandated all car brands to offer six airbags as a standard fitment across all models and variants.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx now gets six airbags as standard

The IndoJapanese carmaker has already updated almost the entire Arena range of models with six airbags as standard ahead of the mandatory norms which kick in from 1 October 2025. The company has also started upgrading its Nexa range with models like Grand Vitara, Invicto, Baleno, and XL6, already offering six airbags as standard. The company has now updated the Fronx with standard six airbags.

As expected, this update has led to a small price hike of 0.5 percent for the Fronx which has come into effect from 25 July 2025. This means an approximate price hike of around Rs 6,0007,000. The Balenobased crossover is now priced between Rs 7.54 lakh and Rs 13.07 lakh (exshowroom). With the Fronx now updated with six airbags, expect its Toyota twin sibling— Urban Cruiser Taisor — to also feature the same since it is Maruti that produces the Taisor for Toyota.
