Electric scooter sales — a topic that has seen mixed results and an intense battle from startups and legacy players. Startups such as Ola and Ather were quick to top sales charts, but legacy players took their time, and now, they lead sales in India.

For the last few months, we have seen TVS and Bajaj battle for the top spot, dethroning Ola, which had led sales for a long time. In June 2025, the story is the same as two legacy players battle for the top spot, while Ola is now playing catchup in a segment that it once held the crown in. Here are the top three bestselling electric scooters in June 2025.

Top 3 selling electric scooters in June 2024

Leading the electric scooter sales in June 2025 is the Bajaj Chetak, a scooter that was slow to enter the segment and quick to build a reputation. The Bajaj Chetak registered sales of 17,864 units in June this year, compared to selling 16,691 units in June last year, registering a positive 7 percent YoY growth.

Hot on Bajaj’s heels is TVS with the iQube, having sold 14,244 units. The TVS iQube and the Chetak have been exchanging top spots in recent times, but in June 2025, TVS has to settle for second. That said, the iQube, unlike the Bajaj Chetak, has seen a YoY sales decline of 6.3 percent.

In third is Ola, a brand that commanded a major share in the electric twowheeler space for a while, but quickly crumbled owing to a lot of factors that included reliability issues and bad service. In June 2025, Ola sold 20,190 units of the S1 electric scooter as compared to 36,859 units sold in June 2024.

Bajaj may not lead for too long

The electric vehicle industry has been facing major hurdles with rare earth materials after China imposed export restrictions. The industry has raised its concerns over the same, and Bajaj has officially said that August could see no sales, as the supply of rare earth elements has already halved Bajaj’s production in July.

The supply of rare earth materials and the way forward are still unclear, and other manufacturers could soon be in a similar position, hampering India’s ambitious plans to transition to electric vehicles.
