After a stellar first week that brought in over Rs 175 crore the second weekend only cemented its place in the history books. The film kicked off Friday with Rs 18.5 crore jumped to Rs 27 crore on Saturday and then soared to Rs 30 crore on Sunday. That makes the second Sunday the next highest single-day earner after its first Sunday haul of Rs 35.75 crore. Is Saiyaara showing box office staying power? Absolutely. With a second weekend total of Rs 75.5 crore the drop from its first weekend (Rs 84 crore) was less than 10%. For context even this year’s biggest release Chaava saw a similar drop. That means Saiyaara isn’t just a fluke it’s trending just like a certified blockbuster. How does it stack up against political drama hits? Post-pandemic Bollywood saw surprise blockbusters like The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story both heavily political in tone. The Kashmir Files peaked at Rs 253 crore. The Kerala Story managed Rs 242 crore. In just 10 days Saiyaara crossed Rs 250 crore and is now on track to beat both without riding on headlines or outrage. The films success is a quiet but clear signal: audiences haven’t given up on romance music and raw emotion. Not every blockbuster needs to come with a political punch. Saiyaara is proof that when storytelling is honest and emotions are handled with care the magic works even in todays loud and polarised cinema landscape.
