TCS will make new recruitments through a campus hiring plan. According to media reports, placement officials at several engineering colleges said that India's largest IT services company had emailed last week to select graduates through its hackathon program and also as part of its general recruitment plans.
The outreach indicated that India's largest private employer prefers low-cost, entry-level talent, especially those skilled in emerging technologies, while trimming its more expensive, experienced workforce. The move underscores TCS's cost-saving measures and its plan towards a younger, digitally fluent workforce at a time of widespread slowdown in foreign markets and domestic business challenges.
When did TCS mail for placements?
According to reports, the head of placement at an engineering college said that emails for their hackathon called Codevita came last week. The hackathon is organized by TCS as a coding competition and to identify and recruit top coding talent. Last year, TCS recruited around 80 students for the batch of 2025, but this year's number has not been confirmed. Last year, the company offered annual packages between Rs 4-6 lakh and Rs 13 lakh for students depending on the program they were recruited for.
How many will TCS recruit this year?
TCS told analysts after its June quarter earnings that it aims to recruit 40,000 freshers this fiscal year. Meanwhile, Infosys has said it plans to hire 20,000 freshers this year, while Wipro has targeted over 10,000. HCL Tech may recruit over 7,000 freshers.
