Amitabh Bachchan’s crucial role in Rajinikanth’s big Bollywood breakDuring the audio launch of ‘Vettaiyan,’ Rajinikanth shared a heartwarming story about how he landed his Bollywood debut back in 1983 with ‘Andhaa Kanoon.’ Interestingly, the opportunity came his way because of none other than Amitabh Bachchan. “They initially wanted Mithun Chakraborty to do that role,” Rajinikanth recalled. ‘Andhaa Kanoon’ was the Hindi remake of ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai.’ At that time, Kamal Haasan had already made a mark in Hindi cinema with ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye.’ But Amitji suggested my name and promised the producers he would do a guest role if they cast me. That’s how I got the chance to work in ‘Andhaa Kanoon,’” he said. The film went on to be a big box office success and ranked as the fifth highest-grossing film of 1983. Directed by T.
