Just days after KTM teased an upcoming motorcycle, the Austrian company has launched the new 160 Duke in India, priced at Rs 1.85 lakh, exshowroom. The launch of the new KTM Duke 160 marks KTM’s entry into a space dominated by Yamaha.
New KTM 160 Duke — What’s new?
The entire motorcycle. The new 160 Duke is underpinned by a trellis frame, and features a familiar design seen on the larger Duke 200. The motorcycle gets aggressive tank shrouds to highlight its sporty nature. As of now, the new 160 Duke is offered with the colour options: Electronic Orange, Atlantic Blue & Silver Metallic Matte.
Bookings for the motorcycle are open via authorised KTM dealerships and online, while KTM has started shipping motorcycles already, meaning deliveries will commence shortly. And yes, there will soon be an RC160 as well.
New KTM 160 Duke — Hardware and features
Like all Dukes, the new 160 Duke is suspended by USD forks at the front, a monoshock at the rear, gets lightweight alloy wheels, 17inch wheels, disc brakes at both ends with dualchannel ABS, and a 5inch LCD instrument cluster.
Speaking about the launch, Manik Nangia, President – Probiking: “Inside every one of us is a racer. We all have that instinct to compete and push limits. For over a decade, KTM has given that instinct expression — defining India’s premium sport motorcycle category with an uncompromising ‘Ready to Race’ mindset and thrilling generations of young riders.”
He added, “With the new KTM 160 Duke, we’ve distilled KTM’s legendary DNA into performance motorcycles that are more accessible than ever — without sacrificing the performance, precision, and attitude that define every KTM.”
New KTM 160 Duke — Engine specifications and competition
Powering the new KTM 160 Duke is a 160cc, liquidcooled singlecylinder engine mated to a 6speed gearbox. The engine makes 19bhp and 16Nm of peak torque. KTM does not offer a quickshifter with the 160 Duke, which is standard on the 250 Duke and the 390 Duke.
The new KTM 160 Duke competes directly with the Yamaha MT15, which is priced at Rs 1.69 lakh, exshowroom. The Yamaha MT15 uses a similar liquidcooled singlecylinder engine and makes 18bhp and 14Nm of torque.
