Chashotti cloudburst:A sudden cloudburst incident came to light in Chosity village of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. At least 40 people died in this natural disaster, including two CISF personnel. At the same time, more than 120 people have been injured and more than 220 people are said to be missing. The floods after heavy rains caused huge havoc in the entire region.

Machail Mata Yatra had an impact

This tragedy occurred when the famous Machail Mata Yatra was going on. The disaster came on the route of the pilgrimage of Mata Chandi Temple located in the Himalayan region, which completely disrupted the journey. In the video footage, it was seen that the pilgrims were evacuated from the journey route towards safe places.

Rescue work continues on war footing

Relief and rescue teams immediately reached the spot as soon as the cloudburst was reported. NDRF, SDRF, army, police and local administration are jointly engaged in relief work. The main objective of this campaign is to search for the survivors, to take the injured to the hospital for treatment and remove the people trapped in the debris.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement

Expressing grief over the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that he has informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation. He informed that information is coming gradually from the affected area, but the state government and the central government together are collecting all possible help. He also clarified that he will not talk to the media at this time, but whenever possible, updates will be shared by the government.

Prime Minister Modi expressed condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences on this disaster and said, "I have condolences to the people affected by cloudburst and flood tragedy in Kishtwar. The government is keeping an eye on the situation and all necessary assistance is being provided." He said that relief will be provided to every victim.

Lieutenant Governor gave instructions

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, describing the incident as serious, said that soon after the incident, he approached the local authorities and started the rescue work. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also described the incident as extremely tragic and said that he has instructed all agencies to speed up relief and rescue operations. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured to recover soon.
