Manchester United's negotiating position in talks with Chelsea over Alejandro Garnacho has strengthened again ahead of two imminent Premier League transfers. The Red Devils value Garnacho at £50million, but Chelsea have, so far, only been willing to pay £30m as discussions continue over a compromise.
United's asking price is justified. Garnacho is still only 21, has already made 144 first-team appearances, is under contract until 2028 and possesses world-class potential. Chelsea will argue that Ruben Amorim has damaged the starlet's value by publicly exiling him alongside Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
But a series of Premier League transfers this summer have also made United's demands understandable. It's been a busy transfer window for wingers.
Chelsea signed Jamie Gittens for £52m and sold Noni Madueke to Arsenal for the same price.
Meanwhile, Anthony Elanga joined Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur recruited Mohammed Kudus for £55m, respectively.
Now, Nottingham Forest look set to sign Ipswich Town's Omari Hutchinson for £37.5m, and Dango Ouattara is leaving Bournemouth for Brentford in a £42m move.
Garnacho, arguably, has a higher value than all six of those players, giving strength to United's position during talks with their Premier League rivals.

The Red Devils do need to sell, though. After splashing over £200m on three attacking upgrades this summer, they must balance the books.
And Garnacho is among Amorim's most sellable assets along with Antony and Rasmus Hojlund.
But United will not accept a cut-price fee for the Argentina international simply because the deadline is looming. The deal must work for all parties.
Amorim made this abundantly clear during pre-season when he insisted that he would happily welcome the current exiles back to his squad as competition if they fail to find another club.
"If you reach a point that they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players," he said.

"And I know for a fact that [CEO] Omar [Berrarda] and [director of football] Jason [Wilcox] at the club have a number for these players.
"If they don't reach that number, they will be Manchester United players. No doubts about that. I understand that the clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have surprises.
"And I'm ready to receive the players. They have more competition. If you want to play in the World Cup this year, they need to play.
"So I'm really happy with that because I have more options if they have to fight each other to play."
