Police Foil Attack Plans in Tripura
In Tripura, law enforcement officials have successfully intercepted explosives and apprehended two individuals, preventing a potential attack on Independence Day. This information was disclosed by the police on Friday.
The suspects were detained on Thursday evening in the Vanghmun area of North Tripura.
Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar Rai informed a news agency that two alleged members of a newly formed group called the Tripura United National Force (TUNF) were arrested, and 14 electric explosives along with gel explosives were seized from their vehicle.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dhananjay Riyang from Katlichhera in Assam and Sadai Nanda Riyang from Damchera in North Tripura.
Rai stated, “Initial investigations revealed that they had plotted to destabilize the state, aiming to draw public attention before the Independence Day celebrations by targeting police personnel, damaging police vehicles, and stealing weapons and ammunition.”
He added, “This swift action has averted a significant security incident.”
