Heavy rains cause ‘havoc’ in Mumbai, 2 killed in a landslide at midnight

Mumbai: Many states have been devastated by the last days’ intense rainfall. Particularly in steep regions, landslides have claimed thousands of lives. Two individuals have been killed in landslides that have also occurred in Mumbai at the same time.

On Saturday, a huge landslide happened in Vikhroli, Mumbai. This landslide is claimed to have been caused by heavy rainfall. This accident claimed two lives and seriously wounded several more.

There was debris on the hut

Around 2:39 a.m. on Saturday, this accident occurred. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claims that a landslide unexpectedly happened on a hill as a result of the recent days’ nonstop rain. Two individuals were killed and four others were injured when the hill’s rubble crashed on a cabin.

As stated by the BMC representative

They are all members of the same family. They were sent to Rajawadi Hospital right away after the tragedy, where medical personnel pronounced two persons dead.

The names of the dead are Suresh Mishra (50) and Shalu Mishra (19). Meanwhile, two other family members, Rituraj Mishra (20) and Aarti Mishra (45), have sustained severe injuries. They are currently in better health, nevertheless.

In order to prevent a repeat of the landslide, BMC has relocated other local residents to safe locations.

Mumbai is experiencing heavy rain

The operation of local trains has also been impacted by Mumbai’s intense rains. Waterlogging has caused disruptions to life in several locations. In particular, waterlogging at all railway stations, including Dadar, Kurla, Sion, and Tilak Nagar, has interfered with train operations.
