Arsenal eye 'exceptional' PSG star as Andrea Berta makes Real Madrid swap transfer decision
Football | August 19, 2025 1:39 AM CST

Arsenal have less than two weeks to finalise any remaining business before the transfer window slams shut. The Gunners have spent nearly £200m on new players this summer, yet they've only managed to recuperate about £7m.

Andrea Berta appears to be focusing on player sales now, with Eberechi Eze out of sight and heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Mikel Arteta was keen to get his hands on the Crystal Palace talisman, but the north Londoners need to raise some funds.

Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Karl Hein all look set to leave the Emirates Stadium before the end of the month, while Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have been linked with moves away.

So, with that being said, football.london rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Arsenal reject Real Madrid proposal

According to the Spanish newspaper Diario Sport, Arsenal have rejected a proposal from Real Madrid for William Saliba. The 24-year-old defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for a while now, as Los Blancos look to bolster their backline.

The report claims that Real Madrid offered the Gunners a straight swap of Saliba for Rodrygo, with no fee exchanged. It's said that the offer was immediately turned down as Arsenal plan to tie the France international down to a new contract, which currently expires in June 2027.

football.london says: "Arsenal should return with a bid for Rodrygo – especially now that Eberechi Eze is seemingly more likely to join Tottenham Hotspur than the Gunners. Mikel Arteta needs to bring in a new left winger this summer."

Arsenal eye 'exceptional' PSG star

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are 'closely following' Lee Kang-in's situation at Paris Saint-Germain. The report claims that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder is seriously considering his future in the French capital, having struggled to force himself into Luis Enrique's starting lineup.

It's said that Manchester United and Napoli are also keeping tabs on Kang-in. CaughtOffside reckons that the Gunners made 'direct contact' to express their interest in the South Korea international following the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night.

Enrique has previously heaped praise on Kang-in for his versatility across the frontline. Speaking to French reporters in September 2024, as quoted by L'Equipe, the PSG boss said: "He's such a versatile player.

"He has a very important quality for our way of playing: he doesn't lose the ball, even if he has people on his back. He played more in the centre [against Stade Rennais], as a false 9. He was exceptional."

football.london says: "While I'm not convinced that Kang-in is the answer to Arsenal's problems, he would be a decent addition at this stage in the transfer window. Other than Rodrygo and Eze, there aren't many good realistic options left on the market."

Glasner provides Eze update

Speaking on Sky Sports following Crystal Palace's clash against Chelsea, Oliver Glasner provided an update on Eze's future. The Eagles boss said: "Eb should have scored a goal today, he had one and it was disallowed.

"He will come tomorrow to the Crystal Palace training ground, Tuesday off, we take Wednesday, and I expect him to be back playing for us against Fredrikstad."

A few moments later in his post-match press conference, Glasner added: "Don't always believe what you read. Especially on the internet. There are so many rumours.

"I know, I watch the players every single day, in training sessions - if most of the things that is written about them is true then they couldn't perform like this.

"The team could not be as committed as they are. I'm calm. Two weeks to go. I know Eb's clause is gone, so it's the club's decision. Let's see how it goes."

football.london says: "I reckon Tottenham Hotspur will win the race for Eberechi Eze's signature. The Lilywhites have shown more ambition than their north London rivals. Arsenal are making a grave mistake "
