News India Live, Digital Desk: Heavy Rainfall: Normal life has been badly affected due to torrential rains in Mumbai. In view of the heavy rainfall released in the city and the ‘Red Alert’ issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), it has been decided to close all schools and colleges in Mumbai and surrounding areas. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken this step to avoid safety and any inconvenience of students. The Mumbai University has also postponed all the examinations scheduled on August 19, 2025. These postponed examinations will now be held on August 23, 2025 at the same time. The university has requested the students to avoid travel and pay attention to the official channels of the university for the latest updates. The instructions to close schools and junior colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad due to rain had already been issued by the Maharashtra government and BMC. In many areas of the city, a serious condition of water logging has been observed, especially on the lower areas and roads, which has disrupted traffic and movement. The IMD has continued warning of extreme heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours, due to which citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors. The BMC has announced the closure of all government, semi-government, private and municipal offices on August 19, 2025, except for essential services, and urged private offices to allow their employees to work from home.
