A new initiative has been introduced to make it easier for travellers to find and book hotels and homestays close to India’s national parks. Covering more than 100 parks across the country, the service is designed to solve a common problem faced by visitors. Many national parks have multiple zones and entry gates, and travellers often struggle to identify accommodation that is best located for safaris or convenient access.
To address this, more than 2,000 hotels and homestays have now been mapped to their nearest park zones and entry gates using artificial intelligence. This means travellers can search for a park or a specific entry gate and instantly discover relevant options nearby. The process helps reduce confusion and makes planning trips quicker and more reliable.
In addition to accommodation choices, the platform provides a ‘Tips’ section with important information about each park. This includes operating hours, peak visiting periods, entry procedures, transport options, and links to official state tourism websites. The aim is to help visitors make informed decisions when arranging their trips.
Search data shows that interest in national parks has grown steadily in recent years, with more travellers exploring opportunities for wildlife tourism. This feature is expected to support that growth by making travel planning more convenient.
“India is home to more than 100 national parks and over 1,000 protected areas, offering immense potential for wildlife tourism. On our platform, searches for national parks have doubled over the past two years, a clear sign of the growing interest among travellers. By making it easier to discover and book stays around these destinations, we hope to encourage more people to explore India’s natural heritage and contribute to the growth of this segment,” said Ankit Khanna, Chief Product Officer – Hotel, Growth & Emerging Businesses, MakeMyTrip .
