
New Delhi: A man has been detained for allegedly attacking Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ programme at her official residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday morning. A senior police officer stated that the man has been arrested and further enquiries are underway.
At around 8 am, a man reached the Chief Minister and handed over some papers before allegedly assaulting her. Soon after the incident, the Civil Lines police apprehended the accused, and the Chief Minister was taken for a medical check-up. As per the reports, the accused identified himself as Rajesh Khimji Sakariya, aged 41, claiming to be a resident of Rajkot.
Delhi Chief Minister conducts a public outreach programme every Wednesday at the Delhi Chief Minister’s camp office on Raj Niwas Marg. The hearing begins at 7 am, where people from different parts of Delhi arrive with their complaints and grievances. The Chief Minister hears each complainant one by one.
