Incident at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation
Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday morning, a section of the false ceiling at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office fell, prompting significant safety concerns regarding the newly constructed civic building. The incident occurred around 9 AM, affecting a small area on the underground floor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A staff member at BMC recounted hearing a loud crash and discovered debris scattered on the floor.
Mayor Sulochana Das commented on the situation, suggesting that the ceiling's collapse could be attributed to air conditioner-related seepage. She noted that the building has been in use for two years and is generally in good condition, stating that such occurrences are not uncommon in residential settings. It is important to highlight that the BMC office was inaugurated on February 16, 2023, by the former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as part of the Bhubaneswar Smart City initiative.
