Technical problem in monorail stirred passengers

News Source: Monorail, who was running between Bhakti Park and Mysore Colony in Chembur, suddenly stopped in the middle due to technical fault. In this incident, 442 passengers were stuck in coaches for hours. As soon as the incident was reported, TTL, ALP, Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), police force and 108 ambulance teams jointly started the rescue operation.

All the passengers were safely evacuated after the rescue operation that lasted for about two hours. According to BMC, during this time 14 passengers had mild suffocation and shortness of breathing, which were first aid on the spot. At the same time, a 20 -year -old girl was sent to Sion Hospital as a precautionary measure, where her condition is said to be stable.

BMC officials said that no passenger has suffered a serious injury and all have been safely sent to their destination. Due to the incident, an atmosphere of panic was definitely created among the passengers, but a major accident was averted due to the promptness of the administration and rescue team.

Experts believe that this incident raises questions on the safety and maintenance of monorail services. Passengers also appealed that safety standards should be further strengthened to avoid such situation in future.

Currently, monorail services have been temporarily discontinued and technical investigations are on.
