FIR lodged against CSDS Sanjay Kumar for giving wrong figures … EC’s big action in Maharashtra

Devlali ramtek data controversy: District Election Officers (DEO) of Nashik and Nagpur districts of Maharashtra have registered a case against election analyst and Delhi -based CSDS (Center for the Study of Developing Sociates). It is alleged that he shared misleading figures about Devalali and Ramtek assembly constituencies during the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, causing voters to mislead.

Sanjay Kumar’s apology and clarification
Sanjay Kumar had posted a post on his social media platform ‘X’ for Maharashtra elections, in which he claimed a major decline in the number of voters between Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in these two areas. However, he later removed the post and apologized, saying that this mistake was due to his data analysis team due to wrong reading of a line. He wrote, “I had no intention of spreading any kind of wrong information.”

BJP’s charge and Congress clarification
Regarding this mistake of Sanjay Kumar, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya alleged that Sanjay Kumar deliberately presented the data in favor of the Congress. He described it as an example of “Confirmation Bias”. At the same time, other BJP leaders also said that the Congress accused the BJP and the Election Commission (EC) of election rigging with the help of these figures.

The Congress dismissed the allegations, saying that the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi in recent statements were based on the data provided by the Election Commission. The party says that the BJP is trying to wander from the issue.

In this case, the Election Commission analyzed his analysis from Rahul Gandhi and "Evidence" Has asked to submit with affidavit. But Rahul Gandhi replied that he has already taken the oath of constitution as MP and the data he has shared has been taken from the portal of the Election Commission itself. Therefore, the commission itself can check that data. This dispute has not yet calmed down, and it has to be seen what conclusion of this episode of Election Commission, Congress and Sanjay Kumar.
