Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) On Tuesday, August 19, the team announced the team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. India will try to establish regional dominance under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir in this tournament to be held in UAE from 9 to 28 September.

The biggest discussion in the team’s announcement was Shubman Gill’s T20I team after more than six months after the return. However, the selectors excluded young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal by the selectors have become a topic of discussion among experts and fans.

Gill’s recent performance made him a strong contender, but cricket lovers are surprised by Jaiswal not being given a place in the team, as he has already proved his ability in T20 format.

Madan Lal raised questions when Yashasvi Jaiswal is out

Former Indian all -rounder Madan Lal expressed surprise for not being included in the team. Talking to ANI soon after the team’s announcement, he insisted that “Players who have the ability to overturn the match on their own should always get a place in the team.”

Madan Lal further said, “Sometimes you are surprised that a player like Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the team. Gill is a good option as he is performing well. In the coming time, it is possible that Gill play in three formats… but the team should not be excluded to win the match. We have such a good team that we can win the Asia Cup. “

Lal’s comment indicates that the presence of proven and influential players in big tournaments-such as Asia Cups-is very important, as sometimes a great personal performance can change the attitude of the match.

Jaiswal’s magnificent T20 form

Despite being out of the T20 series recently, Jaiswal has consistently performed brilliantly in the short format. His last match for India was against Sri Lanka in July 2024, after which Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were given priority as openers.

However, 22 -year -old Jaiswal returned to the form by scoring 559 runs at a strike rate of 160 during IPL 2025. His aggressive style in the top order included him among the most influential batsmen of the season.

Comparatively, Shubman Gill also scored 650 runs at a strike rate of 156 and took his team Gujarat Titans to the playoffs. The performance of both batsmen was excellent, but Jaiswal’s ignoring about selection is still under question.
