Effect of heavy rain
According to the Meteorological Department, in the next 24 hours, the northern and central parts of Haryana may receive rains from 100–150 mm. There is also a possibility of more than 200 mm of rain in some places. Strong winds can move at a speed of 40–50 km per hour, causing a risk of falling trees and blockage of power supply. Farmers have been advised to take immediate steps to protect their crops. Paddy and sugarcane crops can be damaged especially.
Advice for people
Appeal has been made to people that if they are not necessary, do not leave the house. Orders have been issued to close schools and colleges. The administration has advised people living in low -lying areas to visit safe places. Helpline number 112 and local administration numbers are active for emergency. Make arrangements in advance to avoid blockage of electricity and water supply.
Why the weather changed?
Meteorologists say that the low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is the cause of this heavy rains. Due to the activation of monsoon and getting the western disturbance, this turmoil is seen in the weather. This situation may persist for the next two days. However, the weather is expected to improve after 24 August.
