
New Delhi: Two of Ajit Agarkar’s colleagues, selectors, will depart from him within a week of the 2025 Asia Cup squad being announced. Applications are being accepted for two positions on the senior Indian men’s cricket team selection committee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In addition, the board has publicly invited the candidate for the open position on the junior men’s and women’s selection committees.

Men’s National Team Selectors (2 Posts)
Two spots are open for the National Men’s Team selector, according to a press release from the BCCI. Team India (Senior Men) will be chosen in a variety of ways by the members of the Senior Indian Men’s Selection Committee. The BCCI will use this to choose the squad for Test, One-Day International, Twenty20 International, and any other format.

What qualifications should be required?
The BCCI has assessed the candidate’s suitability for the position of men’s team selector. The candidate must have participated in at least seven Test matches, thirty first-class matches, or ten ODIs and twenty first-class matches. It’s also important to remember that the applicant must have retired from the game at least five years before. Gautam Gambhir accepted the BCCI’s ruling.
For five years, he should not have served on any BCCI cricket committee. Ajit Agarkar, a former Indian fast bowler, is now in charge of the selection panel. It consists of Sridharan Sharath (South Zone), Ajay Ratra (North Zone), Subroto Banerjee (East Zone), and Shiv Sundar Das (Central Zone).
Women’s National Men’s Team Selectors (4 posts)
The women’s selection committee member will be in charge of choosing Team India’s senior ladies from a variety of age categories and formats. In addition, this position entails creating value reports, making sure the bench is strong, and reviewing the coach and support personnel.
What qualifications should be required?
Players who have previously represented the Indian women’s national team. At least five years have passed since their retirement from the game. A person cannot have been a member of any BCCI cricket committee for more than five years. Neetu David is in charge of the women’s committee, which is composed of Shyama Shaw, Venkatachar Kalpana, Aarti Vaidya, and Renu Margaret.
