
Veteran actress Usha Nadkarni , a celebrated name in Indian television, has always been admired for her fearless opinions and powerful performances. Recently, in a chat with Pinkvilla, Nadkarni opened up about her memorable experience working alongside Smriti Irani , who went on to become a household name through Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi .
Sharing her fond recollections, Usha spoke about their collaboration and the warmth she experienced from Irani. “Badme usne kiya tha Virrudh. Mere kandhe pe haath rakha boli, ‘Tai mere sath kaam karegi?’ Maine bola, ‘Tu legi mujhe toh mai karungi’ (Later, she did Virrudh. She placed her hand on my shoulder and asked, ‘Tai, will you work with me?’ I told her, ‘If you take me, then I will do it’),” she recalled warmly.
The veteran actress further added, “Voh bhi achi hai. Baat karne ko bohot achi hai” (She is nice. Very good to talk to). However, when asked if she is still in touch with Irani, Nadkarni admitted that they have not been in contact for quite some time.
Usha Nadkarni has had a prolific career, with her breakthrough role coming in Ektaa Kapoor’s Pavitra Rishta, where she essayed the strong yet antagonistic mother of Sushant Singh Rajput’s character. Despite playing a negative role, her performance was widely loved, and she shared a close bond with the late actor off-screen.
