
Meeting with Finance Minister
On Friday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the national capital. During this meeting, he requested financial assistance from the central government for various developmental initiatives underway in the state. Naidu presented a memorandum demanding an additional allocation of ₹5,000 crores for pending capital projects in Andhra Pradesh.
Funding Proposals and Requests
The memorandum also included a request for the necessary orders to be issued regarding proposals submitted by the state government under the Single Nodal Agency (SNA Sparsh) incentive scheme guidelines for the fiscal year 2024-25, amounting to ₹250 crores.
Capital Investment and Development Plans
Naidu noted that the state has received ₹2,010 crores under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. He welcomed the central government's announcement of the Purvodaya scheme aimed at the integrated development of eastern states, stating that Andhra Pradesh stands to benefit significantly from it. He urged the central government to finalize the implementation methods for this scheme as soon as possible.
Support for NDA's Vice Presidential Candidate
In a separate meeting in Delhi with NDA's Vice Presidential candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan, along with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs, Naidu expressed his happiness over Radhakrishnan's nomination. Speaking to reporters, he stated that the NDA's choice of Radhakrishnan as a candidate for the Vice Presidency was commendable.
TDP's Position in NDA
Naidu expressed pride in the NDA's selection of Radhakrishnan, calling him the most suitable candidate. He emphasized TDP's support for him, noting that the party had joined the NDA prior to the elections, with governments in both Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. He described Radhakrishnan as a gentleman and a patriot who would bring honor to the nation. The Election Commission has announced that voting for the Vice Presidential election will take place on September 9, with counting occurring on the same day.
