Delhi Politics: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta congratulated MLAs Arvinder Singh Lovely and Rajkumar Chauhan after being given the post. Both leaders have been in Congress.

Senior MLAs Arvinder Singh Lovely and Rajkumar Chauhan, who joined the BJP from Congress, have been given a big responsibility by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta. Today (22 August) she said that Arvinder Singh Lovely has been appointed as the chairperson of the Trans Yamuna Area Development Board.

Rajkumar Chauhan has been appointed as the chairperson of Delhi Village Development Board. The CM said, "Best wishes to both the leaders for the new responsibility. The Delhi government is committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's vision of a developed Delhi."

Before the Delhi Assembly elections in May 2024, Lovely and Chauhan had announced their decision to leave the Congress and joined the BJP.

Rajkumar Chauhan won the 2025 elections from Mangolpuri on a BJP ticket. He defeated AAP candidate Rakhi Birla. Earlier in the 2013, 2015, and 2025 elections, Birla defeated Chauhan, who was contesting on a Congress ticket. Earlier, Chauhan was an MLA from 1993 to 2013.

Arvinder Singh Lovely became the president of Delhi Congress twice and was a minister in the Sheila Dikshit government. He became an MLA from Gandhinagar for the first time in 1998. He also won the elections of 2003, 2008 and 2013. After this, he resigned from Congress in 2017 and joined BJP. However, he again joined Congress in February 2018.

After staying in the party for about four years, Lovely joined the BJP in May 2024. Ever since the BJP government was formed, there was speculation about Lovely being given a post.
