New Delhi: The Indian Postal Department is going to stop booking all types of postal goods for the US from August 25 in response to the tariff imposed by Donald Trump. At present this decision will be implemented temporarily. Later it will be changed according to the US stance. The department is making changes in its services due to a new tariff in America. The US administration had issued an order (Executive Order No. 14324) on July 30 2025 under which the duty-free exemption on goods worth up to $ 800 will end from August 29 2025. Now all postal goods going to America irrespective of their price will have to pay the customs duty. This duty will be levied on the basis of country-specific tariff rules under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). However gift items worth up to $100 will be exempt from this duty.
