Meteorological Department’s seven-day alert, know on which date heavy to very heavy rains will occur in which states

Heavy rain warning  : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in many states of the country during the next seven days. According to the department, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Gujarat till August 30 and in Rajasthan till August 26.

The Meteorological Department has predicted normal to heavy rains in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.

Know in which states it may rain on which date

  • August 24: Extremely heavy rainfall is likely over East Rajasthan. Apart from this, extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
  • August 25: Heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand, while Delhi will also witness light rains and cloudy weather.
  • August 26: Rainfall activity may increase in western coastal areas.
  • 24 to 30 August: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from this, heavy rainfall is also expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.
  • August 27: There is a possibility of cloudburst and landslides in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • August 28: Heavy rain and thunderstorm warning issued in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • 24 to 19 August (Jharkhand): Heavy rains are likely to continue in Jharkhand also.

The weather department has warned of road closures and waterlogging due to heavy rains. Therefore, people are advised to stay safe and avoid traveling.
