New discovery: Plant milk became a better option for health environment

Mumbai When the world is struggling with climate change and environmental crisis, then even our everyday small habits can be important in saving the earth. There is one of them, which milk we drink. Traditionally, people use cow or buffalo milk, but now vegetable -based milk (plant milk) is becoming increasingly popular in the option. It is not only healthy but also causes less harm to the environment.

According to a study published in the Journal of Functional Foods, soy, almonds, oats (oats), cashews and rice milk are available in the market. They are all containing protein, vitamins and minerals. These dairy are better than milk in terms of environment. All these plants do not have lactose in milk, so these are better options for people who have difficulty in digesting dairy milk.

According to experts, vegetable milk is free of cholesterol, which reduces the risk of heart disease. It is easy to digest and rich in vitamins, minerals and proteins. However, it has to be kept in mind that it is better if it is without preservatives.

Environmental impact
The environmental impact of plant milk is much less than dairy production. Carbon emissions are very low from plant milk. Compared to animal husbandry, land and water consumption also decreases significantly.

Plant milk market major brand and stake
The plant milk market in India is growing rapidly. According to the report of Fortune Business Insights, it was about 450 to 500 crores by 2024 and its annual growth rate is 20 to 25 percent. Soyfit holds around 18 and Staya about 10 percent stake in the Soyamilk segment at the level of brands. Oats Milk holds Oatli 12, Urban Plater 6 and RAW Prasari Oat Milk 8 percent stake. Almond and cashew milk category have approximately 8 percent market share in Epigamia 14, Sofit 10, Goodmilk 6 and Harshij Almond Milk.
