There’s an ongoing Salmonella outbreak investigation linked to various pistachio products, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). This has resulted in multiple recalls across Canada.
As of August 25, there are 62 illnesses connected to this outbreak, affecting British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. Of these illnesses, 10 have resulted in hospitalizations. Below is a list of pistachio products currently recalled that may be contaminated with Salmonella—these products were sold in retail locations as well as to restaurants and other facilities:

In addition to the above products, multiple pastries, including baklava, pistachio cookies and more are being recalled. While these baked goods may not be as shelf-stable, still check the full recall list to see if you have any on hand.
Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) can cause mild to severe symptoms, most commonly diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. These symptoms can start from six hours to six days after infection, and they can last up to seven days. If you are showing any signs of salmonellosis, contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible.
