Sky News came to a screeching halt minutes into the evening show for a breaking news announcement about Donald Trump. Over the weekend, the Justice Department released transcripts from an interview with Ghislaine Maxwell- the jailed associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In the explosive interview, the convicted prisoner told US officials that she did not witness any inappropriate conduct by the Republican leader of the former president Bill Blinton.

Maxwell, who was interviewed from prison in July, insisted: "I certainly never witnessed the president in any- I don't recall ever seeing him in his houses. I didn't see the president in any sort of massage setting, I never witnessed the president in any inappropriate setting in any way."

"The president was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects", she added. According to the newly released transcript, she told Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche that the highly speculated "client list" does not exist.

Ghislaine went on to reveal that she does not believe the convicted sex offender "died by suicide" after he was found deceased in his prison cell on August 10, 2019, days before his upcoming sex trafficking trial.

Sky News US correspondent Martha Kelner revealed that these files were posted on social media by Mr Blanche, who explained that these were shared "in the interest of transparency".

Ghislaine Maxwell's laywer David Marcus has been responding to the release of these audio files. He said: "Ms Maxwell answered every question, she did not refuse to respond, and did not dodge any question. She supported her answers with documents and other objective evidence. Her demeanour and credibility are clear for anyone to hear."

The Trump administration has faced pressure to disclose information about the late sex offender who was friendly with the US president.

The interview has outraged the family of Virginia Guiffre - a prominent Epstein activist who died by suicide earlier this year - who say the government has given Maxwell "a platform to rewrite history".

Maxwell is seeking a pardon from Trump and has been accused of lying to federal officials. Shortly after the interview with Blanche, who previously worked as Trump's personal attorney, she was moved from a Florida prison to a new minimum-security facility in Texas. It is not yet known what prompted the move.

She is currently serving a 20-year sentence in a sex-trafficking scheme and has petitioned the US Supreme Court to overturn her conviction.
