Pakistani actress and social media personality Momina Iqbal has criticized authorities for what she called “negligence” in dealing with phone-hacking mafias. She questioned why such criminal gangs continue to operate freely despite specialized security agencies being in place.
“Even if our government and agencies are asleep, if someone dares to enter my personal space—or that of any girl—I promise I will not stay silent,” Momina said. Her statement reflects growing concern about digital safety in the country.
She added, “If the daughters and sisters of this country aren’t safe, then what is the point of building these forces over the years? What are they here for?” Her remarks underline frustration over systemic loopholes in cybercrime prevention.
The warning comes at a time when complaints to online harassment, hacking, and digital blackmail are rising. The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing has urged citizens to stay vigilant against suspicious links and unauthorized logins. Still, cases of hacking continue to surface.
For celebrities like Momina Iqbal, these issues go beyond personal inconvenience. They reveal weaknesses in the system that leave ordinary citizens, especially women, vulnerable to harassment and exploitation. Momina emphasized that digital security should be treated as seriously as physical safety. “As a citizen, I have the right to protect myself and speak up,” she said.
Recently, veteran actress Asma Abbas also became a victim of hacking. Her WhatsApp account was compromised, and fraudulent messages demanding money were sent to her contacts. She explained in an Instagram video how a seemingly harmless parcel- call led to the breach. Asma reassured her followers that she was safe but expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to those who received scam messages.
Her sister, veteran actress Bushra Ansari, shared a warning on Instagram. She posted a screenshot of a fraudulent conversation from Asma’s hacked account and urged the public not to trust any suspicious messages from her number.
