Mumbai: Ganesh Chaturthi, the grand festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha, will be celebrated this year on Wednesday, 27 August 2025. The festival, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom. Across India, devotees prepare for the occasion with unmatched enthusiasm, welcoming Ganpati into their homes with rituals, decorations, and prayers.

Traditionally, the arrival of Lord Ganesha’s idol into households is seen as an auspicious moment, believed to bring blessings, prosperity, and harmony. While idols can be brought home a day before or on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the actual Ganesh Sthapana (installation) must be performed in the shubh muhurat (auspicious time) to ensure divine blessings. Here are the key dates, timings, and yogas for bringing home Ganpati in 2025.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 Puja and Sthapana Muhurat

On 27 August 2025, the auspicious time for Ganesh Chaturthi Puja will be during the Madhyahna Muhurat, from 11:05 AM to 1:40 PM. This is considered the most favourable period for worship and installation.

Devotees can bring the idol home before this puja muhurat. According to the Panchang, both Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Ravi Yoga will occur on this day from 5:57 AM to 6:04 AM. This short but powerful window is ideal for purchasing idols and other puja items. Bringing Lord Ganesha home and worshipping him with proper rituals during these yogas is believed to remove difficulties and bless the household with peace and prosperity.

Many devotees also choose to purchase the idol a day earlier, on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, which coincides with Hartalika Teej. On Tuesday, 26 August 2025, the auspicious period will last from 9:09 AM to 1:59 PM. During this window, families can bring the idol home and prepare for the next day’s installation rituals.
