According to a report from Sacha TablesMalick Fofana (20) has decided to stay at Olympique Lyonnais this summer, after not finding a club which suited his ambitions over this summer. The Belgian winger was the subject of major interest from the Premier League, with Liverpool reportedly looking at the player earlier in the window if they moved on Federico Chiesa. Nottingham Forest had also reportedly reached an agreement with the club over a transfer fee, but the player opted not to join.
Chelsea were also at one point also potential suitors, with interest coming from fellow French side Olympique de Marseille earlier in the window – according top Market football. Fofana featured during Lyon’s recent 3-0 win over promoted side Metz last weekend, scoring the opener as OL grabbed their second win of the 2025-2026 campaign.
Last season, Fofana made 29 Ligue 1 appearances and scored five goals, adding six goals in the UEFA Europa League in 10 continental matches.
