The weather is going to change again in many parts of India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain from 27 to 31 August. During this time, there is a possibility of troublesome rain in many states of the country.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to be cautious and make necessary preparations. Let us know which states will receive heavy rains and what is the Meteorological Department’s warning.

Which states are at risk?

According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in parts of North India, Central India and South India. Rain havoc can be seen especially in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There is a possibility of rivers overflowing and flood-like situations in these states. The Meteorological Department has also instructed the local administration to remain alert.

Why is it raining so much?

Meteorologists say that this heavy rain is happening due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal and the activity of monsoon. Apart from this, western disturbance can also intensify the rain in some areas. IMD said that monsoon rain will be at its peak from 27 to 31 August, which can lead to waterlogging and traffic disruption in many places.

Advice for people

The Meteorological Department has appealed to people not to leave their homes unnecessarily. Especially in those areas where heavy rain alert has been issued. People living in low-lying areas have been advised to move to safer places. Along with this, instructions have been given not to stand in open fields and under trees due to the possibility of lightning. Farmers have also been advised to take necessary steps to save their crops.
