Rescue Operation Near Madhopur Headworks
In a remarkable and swift operation, the Indian Army Aviation successfully rescued 22 CRPF personnel and three civilians who were stranded near Madhopur Headworks in Punjab. The rescue mission commenced at 6 AM today, despite challenging weather conditions. All individuals were safely evacuated and transported to a secure location, as confirmed by the Indian Army.
A defense spokesperson reported that the CRPF members and civilians had taken refuge in a building, which unfortunately collapsed shortly after their evacuation. Continuous heavy rainfall in various regions of Punjab has led to sudden flooding in several areas.
Impact of Heavy Rainfall on Local Rivers
The spokesperson further noted that the Sutlej, Beas, Ravi rivers, and smaller seasonal streams are currently swollen due to the ongoing rain. The Army Aviation team undertook this urgent operation starting Tuesday, rescuing a total of 25 individuals stranded near Madhopur Headworks, close to the Jammu and Kashmir border.
Despite the adverse conditions, Army Aviation helicopters took flight for the rescue mission at 6 AM on Wednesday, successfully extracting all stranded individuals. The spokesperson emphasized that the building where these individuals sought shelter collapsed immediately after their rescue, highlighting the timely and precise execution of the operation.
This successful mission underscores the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to saving lives and its ability to respond promptly in crisis situations. The collaboration between the army and local authorities averted a potential disaster.
