The holy festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is not only a celebration but a resolve to save our traditions and faith. At a time when devotees from all over the country are praying for the restoration of religion by taking blessings from Vighnaharta Shri Ganesh, a decision of the Executive Committee of Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is hurting the sentiments of the devotees deeply.
The Diwali celebrations held under the flag of the temple have been allowed to serve the liquor. The decision taken against religious heritage and cultural beliefs has now taken the form of a major dispute. HCF (Hindu Canadian Foundation) has described it as a “extreme irreligious and anti-Hindu” tradition. The forum says that this decision is not only going to take the youth in the wrong direction, but also causes serious damage to the purity of festivals and the dignity of the temple.
The forum alleged that the temple president Keshav Agnihotri has not yet given any response or clarification on the issue. Devotees are considering silence in matters to faith. A member of HCF said, “We have been demanding to end this practice for three consecutive years. Despite the appeals, the inactivity of the committee is playing with faith and tradition.”
Community demand
Devotees said that serving alcohol should stop immediately in any religious program organized in the name of the temple. The nature of temples and festivals should always be family, spiritual and holy.
Take immediate steps:
The community has appealed to the devotees to send a respectable but firm email to the Executive Committee and demand them to stop this tradition immediately.
