Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Alejandro Garnacho, according to Sky Sports News. Negotiations between the two clubs have focused on Garnacho’s valuation, with Manchester United initially setting the price at £50 million—higher than what Chelsea had put forward. However, both parties are reportedly moving towards a compromise and are optimistic about finalising the transfer before Monday’s Deadline Day.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea confirmed their proposal for Garnacho, with a total package worth £35-40 million. The club is now waiting for Manchester United’s final approval. The agreement is considered imminent, and it appears to be only a matter of time. Garnacho has expressed his determination to join Chelsea, having turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League. Garnacho has also reportedly declined approaches from other clubs, as his preference is a switch to Chelsea. The winger was told at the end of last season that he could leave Manchester Unite,d and is currently not training with the first-team squad.
United manager Ruben Amorim commented on Garnacho’s situation earlier this summer, stating, "You can understand and you can see he's a really talented boy, and sometimes things don't work out." Amorim added, "Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership," suggesting the player's motivation for a new challenge.
The United bosemphasiseded the necessity of player sales this summer as he looks to reduce the squad size due to the absence of European competitions. Garnacho has made 144 appearances for Manchester United, recording 26 goals and 19 assists. Last season, he featured in 58 matches, scoring 11 times and providing 10 assists. In addition to Garnacho, United are fielding interest in midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, with expected bids for the 20-year-old. However, Mainoo has not indicated a desire to leave, and United are not eager to sell. Striker Rasmus Hojlund remains a target for Napoli, as discussions continue. Real Betis and United are holding positive talks over a potential initial loan move for Antony, while Jadon Sancho is considering his options amid interest from several clubs. Tyrell Malacia has also drawn attention from interested parties.
