CBSE has made Apaar ID mandatory for the 2026 board exams. Now, students without Apaar ID will not be able to appear in 10th and 12th exams.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a big decision regarding the 10th and 12th board exams to be held in the year 2025-26. Now it has been made mandatory for the students to have Apaar ID to appear in the exam. That is, students who do not have this digital ID will not be able to appear in the board exam.
This instruction is included in the guidelines sent by CBSE to the schools, following which it is mandatory to submit the List of Candidates (LOC). Actually, every year schools have to send the data of their students to CBSE before conducting the board exam. On this basis, admit cards are made and the examination process is decided.
When and how will LOC be submitted?
The board has directed all schools to submit LOC through online mode from 29 August to 30 September 2025. At the same time, those who submit late from 3 to 11 October 2025 will have to complete this process with late fee. The board has clearly said that the last date for submitting LOC and fee will be the same, that is, it is necessary to submit both the form and the fee on time.
Only those students whose name will be included in the LOC will be able to appear in the board examination of 2026. Therefore, schools have been asked to ensure that they send the name, date of birth, gender, category and name of the parents of the students to the board only after carefully checking them.
Why was Apaar ID made mandatory?
This time CBSE has decided to link LOC with Apaar ID. Apaar ID is a 12-digit digital identity introduced by the Government of India, in which the entire academic record of the students is recorded digitally.
Under this, the mark sheets, degrees, certificates, scholarships, awards and other academic achievements of the students remain safe. That is, wherever the students study with Apaar ID, their academic history will be available on the same platform.
CBSE believes that this step will not only ensure transparency of identity but will also prevent irregularities related to examination and results in future.
