At 67, spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has completed a physically demanding two-week motorcycle journey to Mount Kailash, nearly a year and a half after undergoing two emergency brain surgeries in 2024. His return to the Isha Yoga Centre in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore was met with a grand welcome, highlighting not just the journey itself but the extraordinary resilience behind it.
“I went to Kailash on a motorcycle to demonstrate the power of yoga. What doctors said was impossible, I have achieved through focus and spiritual alignment,” he told reporters, emphasizing that discipline and inner clarity were central to overcoming physical limitations (Indian Express, August 2025).
Sadhguru shared a video on Instagram documenting his ride and reflecting on the journey’s deeper meaning. In the post, he highlighted that he, along with two others, might be the first group from India to reach Mount Kailash on motorcycles. He emphasized that his achievement should not be seen as arrogance despite his medical history, stating that yoga provides clarity and connection rather than ego. He described the journey as rooted in spiritual experience, saying that the fruits of such dedication are beyond imagination.
Overcoming Medical Challenges
As per IANS, speaking to journalists at Coimbatore Airport, Sadhguru shared how he approached the journey despite medical warnings. Doctors had advised against physically strenuous activities following his surgeries, yet he rode to altitudes of 18,000 feet above sea level. He explained that yoga played a crucial role in preparing him mentally and physically. According to Sadhguru, connecting deeply with the source of creation through yoga made the journey “effortless” despite his age and recent health setbacks.“I went to Kailash on a motorcycle to demonstrate the power of yoga.
