Ruben Amorim drops worrying Man Utd comment after Burnley win as trio struggle

Manchester United might have picked up their first win of the Premier League season against Burnley, but the Portuguese coach issued a worrying update on three first-team players. Matheus Cunha was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury in the first half of the match, before Mason Mount was also hauled off at the break.

Amorim raised eyebrows when he opted to go with Joshua Zirkzee as Cunha's replacement, instead of £74million arrival Benjamin Sesko. But the United boss confirmed post-match that Sesko himself had been suffering from fitness issues.

Touching on the fitness of Cunha, Mount and Sesko, he said: "I don't know. We will check them [Cunha and Mount] We need those guys really bad to be really competitive... He [Sesko] finished the game with cramps, really on the limit, that's why we protect Ben from the penalties, today that reason also. I was thinking Ben pre-season didn't do 90 minutes, he did that on Wednesday."

Amorim and United will no doubt be thankful for the international break, as it takes them out of the firing line for a couple of weeks. But all eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium when the Premier League returns, with United set to travel away to bitter rivals Manchester City.

Despite snatching the three points, it was another afternoon where United were forced to huff and puff. The first half was on the whole promising for the Red Devils, who ought to have had more than the one-goal advantage at the break. But it was the second half when the wheels started to fall off (again) for United.

Lyle Foster levelled things up for the visitors, with Bryan Mbeumo going down the opposite end to put United ahead once again. But lightning struck twice, as Jaidon Anthony netted Burnley's second equaliser of the contest to make it 2-2 - the score it remained up until the dying embers of the match.

Amorim admitted he is an emotional manager and will continue to wear his heart on his sleeve when United are toiling. He said: "I was frustrated like any Man Utd supporter, we had chances to score more goals, create more chances.

"Today, the football was fair - we were the better team. Some moments are really decisive. Sometimes we were not playing so well, but you can see the effort of everyone on the pitch wanting to win. I am really emotional, and in the last few months you can see why. I am like that, and you like that."

The ex-Sporting manager was spotted cutting a frustrated figure, even when United were beating the recently promoted side. He looked particularly annoyed during the pause between the VAR check and Bruno Fernandes taking the penalty.

When asked why he didn't watch the spot-kick, he replied: "I like to see the image of the fans. What has to be has to be. In that moment, I was thinking, it would be fair to win the game. And I did not think Bruno would miss a second in a row... I was just thinking Bruno was not going to miss."
