Minister's Call for Cultural Respect

Agartala, Aug 31: Sudhangshu Das, a minister in Tripura, has expressed concerns regarding the behavior during idol immersion processions, stating that loud music and alcohol consumption contradict the essence of Hinduism.

His comments were made as the state celebrated the Ganesh Puja festivities.

"Engaging in idol immersion while intoxicated and playing loud music is entirely against the principles of Hindu culture. I urge those with a positive mindset to help eliminate such practices," he shared on his Facebook account.

"It is essential to guide the youth away from these misguided actions and towards a more spiritual path," added the minister responsible for animal resources development.

The high court has already imposed restrictions on the use of high-decibel sound systems, commonly known as 'DJ boxes', after 10 PM.

Authorities have indicated that measures are being implemented to address sound pollution in Agartala.

"We are enforcing legal actions whenever these regulations are violated. During the Ganesh Puja, we received several complaints about loud sound systems, and appropriate actions were taken," stated Rana Chatterjee, the officer-in-charge at the West Agartala police station.
