
New Rules 1 September 2025: New Delhi. Since 1 September 2025, many important rules have come into force across the country, which will directly affect the pockets of common people, everyday needs and financial decisions. There have been many significant changes this month, including Income Tax Return (ITR) filing, Aadhaar updates, changes from NPS to UPS, SBI Credit Card Reward Points, FD Scheme, LPG Dam, Silver Hallmarking, and India Post Rules. It is very important to understand these changes on time, otherwise the common citizen may have to face financial or legal problems.

New Rules 1 September 2025
1. Hallmark compulsory in silver jewelery
Hallmarking has become mandatory in silver jewelery from today. This change has been made to protect customers from fake and impure silver. Just as the purity of gold is identified from the hallmark, now the silver quality will also be certified through the hallmark.

Its effect:
- Customers will easily check the purity of silver.
- The sale of fake and adulterated silver in the market will be reduced.
- Jewelers will be mandatory to follow the hallmarking system.

2. LPG cylinder prices change (New Rules 1 September 2025)
On the first date of every month, the prices of LPG cylinders are updated. This month, the price of 19 kg cylinder has been cut, while prices have also updated in 14 kg cylinder.
19 kg cylinder – new prices:
- Delhi: ₹ 1580 (first ₹ 1631.5)
- Kolkata: ₹ 1684 (first ₹ 1734.50)
- Mumbai: ₹ 1531 (first ₹ 1582.50)
- Chennai: ₹ 1738 (first ₹ 1789)
14.2 kg cylinder – new prices:
- Delhi: ₹ 853
- Kolkata: ₹ 879
- Mumbai: ₹ 852.50
- Chennai: ₹ 868.50
Its effect:
- Gas consumers will get some relief on the cylinder.
- The domestic expenses of homes will decrease slightly.

3. Changes in SBI Credit Card Reward Points (New Rules 1 September 2025)
SBI has changed its credit card reward points program. Digital gaming for lifestyle home center cards and card selected holders, government portal and some selected merchants will no longer get reward points.
Its effect:
- Millions of SBI card holders will no longer be able to get points at some expenses.
- Older customers may have to change their expenses scheme.
4. GST reform and change in slab
The government has announced that the 56th meeting of GST Council will be held on 3 and 4 September 2025 in New Delhi. Many important decisions are likely to be taken in this. According to media reports, now only two slabs (5% and 12%) can be replaced by four tax slabs.
Its effect:
- The common man is likely to get relief in tax on daily goods and services.
- The tax process will be easier for traders and retail shopkeepers.

5. Last date for Income Tax Return (ITR) filing
For those who are left behind in filing ITRs, the government has fixed the last date for late filing on 30 September 2025.
Its effect:
- If ITR is not filed on time, then late fees and interest will have to be paid.
- It is necessary for the taxpayer to update their financial records on time.
6. Aadhaar card update (New Rules 1 September 2025)
UIDAI has kept the last date for updating Aadhaar 14 September 2025. This includes changes in name, date of birth, address or mobile number.
Its effect:
- Additional fees may have to be paid for not updating on time.
- There may be trouble in government schemes and banking works.

7. Last chance to switch to UPS from NPS
The government has given the employees the option of change from NPS to UPS (new pension scheme). Its last date is 30 September 2025.
Its effect:
- Interested employees can avail the new pension scheme by filling the form till this day.
- Those who do not do on time, they will remain in NPS itself.
8. Changes in FD rules (New Rules 1 September 2025)
The last date for some banks’ Special Fixed Deposit (FD) scheme is September 2025.
Its effect:
- To get a better interest rate, it is necessary to invest in time in these FD schemes of Indian Bank and IDBI Bank.
- Investors will have to invest before the last date of the scheme to benefit.

9. New rules of India Post
From 1 September 2025, India Post has included the registered post in the speed post. This means that the registered post will no longer be available separately.
Its effect:
- Now all registered mail speed posts will be delivered.

- Customers will not need to choose separate post service.
10. Other important changes (New Rules 1 September 2025)
