Like Instagram, now you will soon be able to share your status with a few friends on WhatsApp. The company is working on a new ‘close friends’ features, so that users will get more control on their status update, now you will not need to think before applying every status, who will see who will see and who will not. You will be able to make a special list of yours and some personal moments will only be able to share it with those who are closest to you. Users will be able to make a special list of their closest friends by going to the privacy settings of WhatsApp. After this, whenever you put a status (photo, video or text), WhatsApp will ask you whether you want to share it with all the contacts or just with your ‘close friends’ list. How will you work and what will happen? Special list: You can go to the privacy settings and make a list of a ‘close friend’. Is that when you add or remove someone to your list, that user will not get any notification. It will be completely private. Status will look different: The status you will share with your ‘close friends’, they will look different from the normal status. According to reports, a different color ring (circle) will be made around such status, which will let your friends know that it is an exclusive update. Like before: the status was shared with the status as before. You will disappear and it will also be end-to-end encrypted. This means that even WhatsApp or Meta cannot see your status. How is the current option different? Right now three privacy options are available for status in WhatsApp- ‘My Contacts’, ‘My Contacts Except …’ and ‘Only Share with …’ Friends use as a list, but the new feature will make this process easier and systematic. You will not need to choose the contacts again and again, make a list once and share it in one click. This feature is currently seen in the beta version of iOS and is currently in the development phase. It is expected that soon it will be rolled out for all Android and iOS users.
