47% of the country’s ministers tainted, serious crimes like murder-rap on 174; Many shocking revelations in ADR

Adr report: A new report by the Election Reform Institution ‘Association for Democratic Reforms’ (ADR) has presented a worrying picture of Indian politics. In this report of the ADR, 302 of the total 643 ministers of the country, or about 47 percent of the total 643 ministers of the country, have declared criminal cases against them. The disclosure is based on the analysis of electoral affidavits filed by ministers between 2020 and 2025. Even more shocking is that 174 of these ministers have serious allegations like murder, kidnapping and crime against women. ADR is a non -beneficial body that works for election reform.

This report comes at a time when the Central Government has made a proposal, which provides for the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and ministers from the post for being arrested for 30 days in serious criminal cases. ADR analyzed the affidavits of 27 states, 3 union territories and central government ministers. According to the report, 29 of the 72 ministers of the Central Government, ie (40%), have admitted to being a criminal case against them, which indicates deep roots of crime in politics at the national level.

Property also increases with crime

In addition to criminal cases, the report also highlights the financial status of ministers. The total assets of 643 ministers of the country are Rs 23,929 crore, making the average assets of each minister Rs 37.21 crore. Billionaire ministers are present in the 11 assemblies of the country, of which Karnataka leads with 8 billionaire ministers. This is followed by 6 billionaires in Andhra Pradesh and 4 billionaires in Maharashtra. According to the party, 14 ministers of BJP, 11 Congress and 6 TDP ministers are billionaires. Aam Aadmi Party, Janasena, JDS and NCP also have billionaire ministers.

How many tainted in which party?

According to the report, 22 out of 23 ministers (96%) of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are facing criminal cases, 13 of which are serious allegations. At the same time, 27 out of 31 (87%) of DMK and 45 out of 61 of Congress are criminal cases against ministers. The Aam Aadmi Party has 11 (69%) ministers of the Aam Aadmi Party. Out of 336 BJP ministers, 136 (40%) are criminal cases, out of which 88 are serious allegations. Some states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Maharashtra have criminal cases against more than 60 percent of ministers, while in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland and Uttarakhand there are no cases against any ministers.

The country’s richest minister is Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani of TDP from Andhra Pradesh, whose assets are Rs 5,705 crore. He was followed by DK Shivkumar (1,413 crore) of Karnataka and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N.K. Chandrababu Naidu (931 crore) ranks. At the same time, ministers with lowest assets include Shukla Charan Noatia (2 lakh) of Tripura and Birbhaha Hansda (3 lakh) of West Bengal.
