New Parking Policy Aims for Sustainable Urban Mobility
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has introduced a draft parking policy that emphasizes demand-based pricing and encourages sustainable transportation methods, including walking, cycling, and public transit, as stated in a recent announcement.
The issue of unregulated parking has become a significant challenge in urban areas across the state. To tackle this, the proposed policy aims to establish a structured system for managing both on-street and off-street parking, according to the Housing and Urban Development Department's statement.
A consultative workshop was held by the Odisha Urban Academy, part of the Housing and Urban Development Department, to discuss the draft policy.
The discussions aimed to develop a comprehensive framework that would enhance parking management, alleviate congestion, and promote safe, livable urban environments.
Once finalized, this policy will act as a guiding framework for all municipal bodies in Odisha, ensuring the implementation of efficient, transparent, and sustainable parking solutions.
