Former Celtic and Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is among the top three contenders to replace Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest. Nuno was dismissed from his role late on Monday with a statement released by the club after midnight to confirm the decision.
The future of 60-year-old Postecoglou has been a hot topic in recent weeks after Nuno confessed that his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis had changed amidst whispers of a potential disagreement within the club's hierarchy. The manager voiced his worries publicly which came after Marinakis famously confronted Nuno on the pitch last season following Leicester's comeback draw at the City Ground, which dashed their Champions League aspirations.
With Nuno now having left Forest, Postecoglou - highly regarded by the outspoken Marinakis - is the front-runner to take the reins, following his own departure from Spurs after their remarkable Europa League victory last season.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Postecoglou is on a three-man shortlist though fails to name the other two who join the Australian on there. Other managers linked include free agent Jose Mourinho, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino who manages the United States men's national team and Fulham's Marco Silva.
A brief statement read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espirito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as head coach.
"The club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at The City Ground, particularly his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the club. As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey."
